Dan Manatt is a New Video consultant and “PrEDiTer” (producer, editor, director and writer), founder and principal of PoliticsTV.com and PoliticsTV.com Consulting, and a documentary filmmaker.

Dan’s TV Advertising portfolio can be seen here.

Dan is credited with a number of firsts: the establishment of the first political web video consulting firm, the first campaign video blog, and the first Pollie Award for a web video project, all in 2003. Also in 2003, Dan co-created HotlineTV, with Chuck Todd and Vaughn Ververs. In 2004 he created DemsTV.com, the first ever web video talking heads show featuring bloggers and young pundits. He also worked for the groundbreaking FreedomChannel.com, the first ever political web video site, founded by Doug Bailey in 1999. (Bailey is the legendary media consultant and founder of National Journal’s Hotline).

In January 1992, Dan signed on to the Bill Clinton for President campaign as a national advance staffer. He also worked on the 1996 Clinton-Gore reelect and Gore 2000 campaign. Dan also served as press secretary on the Scotty Baesler for U.S. Senate 1998 campaign.

In the 105th Congress, Dan served as an elections law aide, helping draft the McCain-Feingold bill, as legislative counsel to Reps. Marty Meehan (D-MA) and Scotty Baesler (D-KY). Dan staffed the successful McCain-Feingold discharge petition in 1998, which forced a successful House vote on the bill despite opposition from Speaker Newt Gingrich and Majority Whip Tom DeLay.

Dan served as director, as well as producer/writer (with Rob Ruck) of the 2006 PBS documentary The Republic of Baseball: The Dominican Giants of the American Game.
